Classics: more secondary list additions!

I am a book magpie.  New list additions:

  • Francis Bacon:  The Essays
  • Ralph Waldo Emerson:  Essays and Lectures
  • Alexander Hamilton:  The Federalist Papers
  • Herodotus:  The Histories
  • Margery Kempe:  The Book of Margery Kempe
  • The Lais of Marie de France
  • Marguerite de Navarre:  The Heptameron
  • Samuel Pepys:  The Diary of Samuel Pepys
  • Plato:  The Republic
  • Henry David Thoreau:  Collected Essays and Poems
  • Mary Wollstonecraft:  A Vindication of the Rights of Woman

Ok.  I am now off to read.  I’d like to make a significant dent into my Thomas Hardy book today. ..

_________

It’s much later in the day.  Actually, we’ll call it evening as the sun is due to set any moment now.  And, yet again, I must add more.

Curse you, GoodReads, for being so dastardly!  The ease of finding MORE books is too much temptation.  See what you have yet again done (and I won’t alphabetize these):

  • François Rabelais:  Gargantua and Pantagruel
  • Sir Arthur Conan Doyle:  The Lost World
  • Geoffrey Chaucer:  Troilus and Criseyde
  • John Ford:  ‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore and Other Plays
  • Emmuska Orczy:  The Scarlet Pimpernel
  • Charles Dickens:  Little Dorrit, Our Mutual Friend, Barnaby Rudge
  • Fanny Burney:  Camilla, Evelina
  • Mary Elizabeth Braddon:  Lady Audley’s Secret
  • Charlotte Bronte:  The Professor, Shirley
  • H. Rider Haggard:  King Solomon’s Mines
  • Rafael Sabatini:  Scaramouche

Geez.  I’m doomed.
